The headliner material we sell has 3/16 inch thick foam, which would be fine for the Volvo headliner. Originally it comes with 1/8 inch foam, as do most American made cars, but we have replaced many Volvo headliners in our trim shop, and used the 3/16 inch thick headliner everytime. All the customers were satisfied and had no problems.
