What's the purpose of the foam backing on the headliner material? If I'm going to use my own material, ought I to put some sort of foam backing on the board, then attach the material to that?

i have a sail boat (1980) Beneteau. In the cabin the side has a vinyl cloth covering. It was sagging and we finally took it out but there remains the glue and part of the rubber backing. We have tried all types of chemical cleaners to remove it from the fiberglass sides but no avail. what can we use to strip off or clean so that the fiberglass sides can be painted? thank you!

I have an 89 Olds Toronado Trofeo. The headliner was sagging so I removed the board to replace the fabric. I stumbled on your site and want to order a replacement kit for it but can't quite match the color. The interior and exterior are both a maroon color but I've no luck with color codes to match it exactly. Can you help?

I used 3M 77 adhesive to install headliner and it didn't hold. 1) If I go back with the same headliner using 3m 76, spraying over the old adhesive, will it work? 2) should I use fresh headliner material? 3) How do I remove the old 3M 77 adhesive residue from the fibreglas roof ?
