How do the retainer clips come off without breaking them?

The dome light retainer clips are a little round retainer that slides up on a metal peg to hold the dome light in some cars and trucks. They can be removed without breaking them by gently prying them off, or with a pair of pliers (twisting off like a screw).

The way we remove them is by breaking the with pliers - that is the fastes and simplest way to remove them. We include 2 retainers in our headliner kits.
